  • The Beginnings

It was set to the backdrop of ancient landscapes, stone circles and Cornish culture that my creative spirit began to unfold. After years of megalithic exploration, painting, drawing and selling my wares around the British Isles, Europe and the United States, I've completed what I consider to be a foundation set of prints.

Some of the celtic art prints are extremely detailed and have taken over a year and a half to complete. The Celtic Numbers series all in all took 2 years to do and the I Ching print was work in progress for over 4 years (undergoing many transformations and a completely new textual rewrite of the ancient oracle based upon various translations of the text both ancient and modern). One of the reoccurring themes in the pictures is that of continuous knotted lines, it's seems to have been a preoccupation of the old scribes to invent ingenious patterns that baffled the observer as to their construction.

    Influences

Inspiration for the pictures comes from Hermetic teachings, Alchemical lore, the I Ching, the flower of life (Drunvalo Melchizedek), the Taro (the Tetragrammaton), Kinesiology (John Diamond), the standing stones of Scotland, the Celtic art in the books of Kells, Lindisfarne and Durrow, pagan folklore, Sufi teachings (G.I.Gurdjieff), Arabic temples, George Bain and the natural world around us.
